This class is designed for singers who can read simple diatonic melodies fairly well and have plenty of experience with non-altered pitches to learn how to sing melodies with pitches outside of the major scale. Topics include: Brief Review of Key Signatures (Sharps, Flats, and Naturals, and Functions of each in notation), Importance of Half and Whole Steps in the Major Scale (Major scale pattern WWHWWWH), Mary Had a Little Lamb to the tune of the Chromatic Scale. Analyze a simple melody with accidentals (Woodshedding book melody), How to access altered pitches in melodies (simple barbershop melodies)
