This class is designed for singers to learn the very basics of how to read music. This will include some ear-training, some singing (oh good), and the practical use of simple music theory. Topics include (but are not meant to intimidate): I Am The Very Model of a Major Scale Singer though... (teach how to sing the major scale by rote), Simple Melodies - analysis (put scale degrees to Amazing Grace, Row Your Boat, ABCs), Notes have two meanings - Pitch and Rhythm (looking at those simple melodies), Simple Rhythms (understanding quarter, half, whole, and eighth durations by sight and sound), Simple Diatonic Melodies (start sight-singing new simple melodies)
